For the design competition I wanted to incorporate my photography with some type of hook. A design element. Yes that could be done in camera using leading lines or many other design techniques. But I wanted to include more than just a photo so I put together a concept for a movie poster displaying my work.
With three photos working around font that will catch the viewers eye I'm hoping to look authentic.

Artist Statement
Notes, write, edit. Re-write, re-read, edit. Throw it away. Write again, read, edit. Writing as an artform has always been a tedious task at best for me. However it is through this medium that I fell in love with (while simultaneously disdaining) the creative process. I've always had an intrinsic infatuation with art. What were they thinking? How did they do this, how did they shade that? This carried over into a new found digital revolution of photography for me.
What time of day is it? When will the light be right, the direction, the background. What is the subject wearing, what accessories will stimulate the image? Shutter speed, aperture, ISO, white balance. Documentary, fine art, portrait. What is it I'm doing? Every click of the shutter brings a tidal wave of technical questions flowing through me in one synergistic push.
It can be maddening to love what you do sometimes, because it's never enough. There is always something that could have been better, a detail missed. Lights, camera(raw), actions. The real artwork begins. A touch up here, a curve there, a level all around. Everything can be adjusted, but really it's just a continuation of the pursuit of the white whale that is perfection. Through the looking glass it can be seen, but never achieved. The fun is in the journey.
